Kitchen/Bath countertops and sinks - Granite or other type? | |
I am not a real fan of granite but it seems like this is about all you see now. I'm building a new home and am trying to decide which surface (sink stains/scratches) will wear better. I haven't lived with either one but mainly don't want to "baby" the counter material . . . just use the heck out of it? Any recommendations from someone who's lived with granite or another surface?
I don't really care about budget as a first issue. This will be my last home so I want something I can use with not having to worry about getting stains or scratches. I'm just kind of sick of the granite look. I do want some thing like that . . . but nt granite. I want a continuous surface (no grout of course) that wears really well, doesn't scratchy, is not porous and is easy to keep clean. So briliiant people . . . what would be the best choice for me? Thanks much.

1I was in the same situation three years ago when I remodeled my kitchen. Granite was/is all the rage, but I didn't want to seal it every 6-12 months. My brother had Corian installed six months prior and told me not to use Corian. Corian scratches, has to be sealed and showed wear and tear. So after a lot of research, I decided on Silestone (quartz) countertops. They don't need to be sealed, don't show scratches, won't burn/scorch and clean up easily. My countertops are 3 years old and look just as beautiful as the day they were installed. I recommend Quartz highly.
